Natural Research is supporting an international raptor conference due to take place in Scotland 2009. The conference will host a gathering of some of the world’s leading raptor scientists who will congregate to present their results from the most up-to-date raptor research and conservation projects from around the world.
Natural Research has made a significant financial contribution towards the conference’s organising costs, and several staff members are leading the organising committee, along with colleagues from the Scottish Raptor Study Groups and others. The conference will be held at the Atholl Palace Hotel, Pitlochry (central Scotland).

Up to 300 delegates from 32 different countries will attend, from countries as diverse as Austria, Australia, Belgium, Canada, Cyprus, England, Estonia, France, Germany, Greece, Holland, Hong Kong, India, Israel, Italy, Japan, Kenya, Mongolia, Nepal, Northern Ireland, Norway, Philippines, Portugal, Republic of Ireland, Russia, Scotland, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, USA, Wales and Zimbabwe.
The six-day conference will include six special symposia, including Scottish Raptors, Conservation & Management, Persecution, Haliaeetus (sea eagles), Migration & Over-wintering, Scottish Raptors and Reintroductions, in addition to more general research topics. Eleven field trips are on offer to some of Scotland’s premier wildlife hotspots, and social events include a party at a nearby castle for whisky-tasting and traditional Scottish dancing.
