Alex joined NRP as a Senior Project Ecologist in September 2018.
He is an experienced ornithologist with over 16 years of professional experience within the ecology and conservation sectors. At NRP he project manages and undertakes field surveys on a number of windfarm projects across Scotland including proposed sites and monitoring of existing wind farms. His project management duty include liaison with landowners, clients and field surveyors; writing of technical reports; provision of tenders, scopes of works and cost estimates for projects and is part of the team that produces the Ornithology chapters for Environmental Statements.
Alex has been involved with the ornithological assessment of renewable energy projects for over nine years and has worked on over 70 onshore wind farm proposals in the UK and Ireland during that time both as an independent consultant and as a staff member of several consultancies. Prior to this Alex graduated with an honors degree in Environmental Science in 2002 and was involved in the management of several important nature reserves including the Farne Islands, The Isle of May and the Isle of Noss. Alex has a lifelong interest in birds and their habitats with a particular interest in seabirds, birds of prey and bird migration.
