Kev Broadbent

Field Ecologist

Kev joined NRP as a Field Ecologist in March 2021.

He is involved in conducting generic day to day surveys and species–specific surveys at a range of potential development sites across Scotland. Kev has received appropriate training through NRP courses, such as height and distance estimation, and use of Garmin inReach messenger, to complement his considerable field skills and experience.

Kev is an experienced ornithologist with over 11 years’ experience working in environmental consultancy. He has worked for a number of consultancies and specialises in upland species and their habitats. He has worked on the capercaillie project for many years conducting lek counts and providing practical habitat management. He has travelled and worked throughout the UK, including monitoring of red-throated divers in Shetland to monitoring hen harrier populations in Ireland. His passion is golden eagles and their environment, having spent 30+ years working and monitoring eagles throughout Scotland, in a working capacity and also in his spare time, working as part of the Highland Raptor Study Group. He spends most of his spare time monitoring wildlife in his home area.
